Suzanne Syvertson enjoys drawing, painting in oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastels. Suzanne began drawing, painting and sculpting when she was 9 years old and began teaching hand building ceramics and art classes to children when she was just a teen.
Suzanne put her art interests on hold during college to obtain BS and MS degrees in Materials (Plastics) Engineering at the University of Massachusetts (at Lowell) and then pursue a successful career as a research and development engineer working for major corporations in electronics, electrical power protection and automotive industries. In 1990, Sue was awarded a US and Canadian patent for her work with electrical arc-extinguishing materials.
Suzanne holds a professional certification in advertising digital graphic design from the Illinois Institute of Art and art history/figure drawing/photography/sculpture education from the Art Institute of Chicago, Columbia College and Lil Street Studios which she received while living in the Chicago area. She has studied with fine arts masters Laurin McCracken, Robert Liberace, Qiang Huang, Bob Rohm, and Susan Sheets....and other professional artists including Salli Babbitt, Robin Williamson, Reg Stark, Caroline Ratliff and Jared Paul Wilson.
Suzanne is the Past President of the Lone Star Art Guild (2013-2015), a fine arts association of 17 community-based art organizations within a 200-mile radius of Houston, Texas with a membership of over 2000 visual artists and was an active member of three LSAG member leagues- the Art League of Fort Bend, the Brenham Fine Arts League and the Imperial Arts Alliance.
Suzanne was also an active Houston community volunteer until her recent move to Florida....having served as a board member of the Houston Tennis Association and Serve Up A Cure (an annual tennis fundraising event which benefits Houston's Pink Ribbons Project). With SUAC, Suzanne hand painted artistic tributes on vintage tennis skirts for the Life Line Salute, a commemorative display of these skirts done in honor or memory of women who've had breast cancer.
Suzanne's fine artworks have been donated to local Houston fundraising events for the Arts for Rural Texas, Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity, Woodlands High School Art Trust, Serve Up A Cure and Houston Tennis Association National Junior Tennis & Learning.
